Jack Goodman's debut record "if you look closely" is an ambient wash that spins visiting venusian's, transgression, renewal and love.
The album was written, recorded and produced over the course of several years as an initial solo project. Created through the admiration for (and desire to expand upon) works from Aphex Twin, Radiohead, Brian Eno, Hania Rani and more, Jack works with Tape recording, analogue synths, repurposing of materials and offcuts, experimental audio destruction and left field songwriting.
Jack moved away from the traditional songwriting he had been contributing to his collaborative efforts with bandmate Daniel Beagin (Brian/Instructions For Song), in efforts to explore music that could tell stories without the requirement of a narrator or lyricist.
The artwork has been designed by Jack to display an endlessly repeating field, much like those that border his Oxon hometown. The artwork for the preceding singles and the record are a collaging of photography and oil paintings brought together digitally to create layers of solid block colour, form from film images and the texture from oils on canvas.
